Snow closure 2nd March

We have taken the difficult decision to close the school tomorrow. These decisions are not taken lightly and we weigh up many and various complicated factors when we do so. Other local schools have also taken the decision to close. 

We are not just concerned about the snow, but also the ice and the unpredictable forecast for tomorrow afternoon. By letting you all know tonight I hope it will go some way in supporting any childcare arrangements you may have to make. 

We very much expect to be open as usual on Monday 5th March. Please stay warm and safe but also enjoy the snow too, it will not be with us long, only six more weeks till the cricket season!

School closure

To avoid the worst of the potentially dangerous conditions later today we have taken the decision to close the school early. This is in line with other local schools. Please collect your child at 1.15 from their classroom. They will have eaten their lunch as usual. WASPs will also be closed today. 

 

Considering all the information we have available this  action is being taken for the safety of children, parents, carers and staff. I would like to add that although we aim to avoid the temperature drop later this afternoon the conditions on the roads and in the car park remain dangerous even now, so please be especially cautious when you collect.

 

The forecast seems to be very different depending on which forecasting service you use but one thing that is for certain is that temperatures and the wind will continue to be very, very cold. We will monitor the situation closely and let you know of any changes to school opening tomorrow as soon as possible. If we are open please ensure the children are wrapped up warm even if they are in World Book Day costumes.

Little Red Riding Hood

The Hedgehogs have had fun making cakes for Grandma.  We began by writing a list of ingredients, talked about the method, then used a clock to see when they were ready.  They were delicious!

Robins have created their own giant characters from the story.  They have been role-playing the story and making cakes for Grandma too.

Foxes and Badgers

The Foxes and Badgers discovered a wolf trap in the playground today.... we can't decide whether Little Red Riding Hood managed to get away or not! This discovery inspired us to get writing straight away!

School open Tuesday 12th December

Good Evening

The school will be open as normal on Tuesday 12^th December.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone traveling to and from school to take extra care as the forecast is for very low temperatures overnight, with the strong possibility of ice patches in the morning. Although parts of the school grounds have been cleared of snow today, a significant amount of snow and ice remains.

Where possible, we ask for you to walk to school, rather than drive. The safety of our children, staff, parents, carers and visitors is our priority.

The school takes no responsibility for accidents on the site.

All children must be sent in with appropriate footwear (e.g. wellies), coats. We also recommend a hat, scarf and pair of gloves.

If there are changes overnight, we will update the school blog, website, local radio stations and the Oxfordshire County Council website, as well as send out a further email via ParentMail.

School closure December 11th 2017

The school will be closed tomorrow (Monday 11^th December) due to icy conditions on the school site. Our priority is is the safety of all users of the school.

We will update the school website / blog, local radio stations and  communicate via ParentMail about Tuesday as tomorrow goes on.
