Year Six had an informative visit to Rewley Road Fire Station (Oxford) on Friday, during which they were taught about how to stay safe when out and about.
They were led through a series of scenarios in which there were dangers that had to be overcome. Some of the scenarios included finding an unconscious person on a railway line, a fire in a kitchen and also being contacted by strangers online.
The staff, comprising of fire officers, police officers and paramedics, discussed with the children how they could reduce the risk, whilst helping those in danger. Every child had to make a 999 call to ask for the help with the emergency services.
It was fantastic to see the children's confidence and understanding develop as the workshop progressed and a great time was had by all.
Thank you to all those involved with the visit.
