School open Tuesday 12th December

Good Evening

The school will be open as normal on Tuesday 12th December.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone traveling to and from school to take extra care as the forecast is for very low temperatures overnight, with the strong possibility of ice patches in the morning. Although parts of the school grounds have been cleared of snow today, a significant amount of snow and ice remains.

Where possible, we ask for you to walk to school, rather than drive. The safety of our children, staff, parents, carers and visitors is our priority.

The school takes no responsibility for accidents on the site.

All children must be sent in with appropriate footwear (e.g. wellies), coats. We also recommend a hat, scarf and pair of gloves.

If there are changes overnight, we will update the school blog, website, local radio stations and the Oxfordshire County Council website, as well as send out a further email via ParentMail.

Best wishes

Police Visit

As part of road safety week, we had a visit from Helen, Archie's Mummy, who is a police lady.  We talked about what she does every day and and she showed us the different parts of her uniform.  She explained to us how important it is to wear a helmet when cycling or scooting.  She also told us to listen to the adults when we are crossing the road!

Road Safety Fun

Foundation Stage fun

We have been into the car park to look at where we should be walking.  We have also discussed the importance of wearing helmets when riding bikes and scooters.

We have been role-playing crossing the road in our outside area.

Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week began on Monday.  It started with members of ICC and our School Council patrolling the car park.   The School Council then lead a whole school assembly, where we were joined by our local MP John Howell. We were extremely proud of the School Councillors for their excellent presentation skills.  Well done!

Thank you for your ongoing support with the car park and we look forward to seeing you at our whole school family assembly this Friday 24th November.

Watlington Hoard Art Workshop

Year 6 had a great day designing and making their own Anglo-Saxon style coins for our 'excavation' display and our 'museum' display linked to our work on the Watlington Hoard.

Every pupil made a coin for display and  took another coin home in a pouch they'd made.

The pupils were complemented on their hard work and excellent manners.  Good fun was had by all!

New arrivals in Foundation Stage

The children found some unusual looking 'eggs' in outdoor area today! Excited discussions followed about where they had come from and what could be inside- suggestions included monsters, dinosaurs, caterpilllars and hedgehogs! What will it turn out to be, we wondered?! Watch this space for updates...

The Watlington Hoard

We've all been having a lot of fun learning about the Watlington Hoard.  We have found out all about the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, the contents of the hoard itself and had a chance to handle both some replicas and some genuine ancient artefacts.  Some of our work will be on display at the special event in town on Saturday 23rd September.

The children had a fabulous day in their wonderful costumes. The day ended in an assembly where the children spoke about what they have been learning about their topic - The Bad Tempered Ladybird, growing a bean diary, parts of a mini beasts body and riddles. The finale was a rendition of the song 'The Ugly Bug Ball' with actions! Well done and thank you all Key Stage One children for a lovely happy and exciting day.
